Bella Konigala - Alotau Office Manager

Short brief

Completing secondary school I did two years secretarial studies and worked for the Anglican Church for five years in various Diocesan offices, in Lae, Oro, Port Moresby and Institutions like the School of Nursing Oro Bay and the Church’s Theological college. I then did a year’s course in radio/media production at Kristen Radio, Lae and Kamaliki  Goroka (Catholic) producing 5 minute meditations, am/pm 5 days a week, edited a church magazine "Family" and was part of Churches Council for Media. All this occurred between 1976-1989.

I left the Church, had a family and after my husband retired from his job we returned to Alotau (my home town). I volunteered to look after the parish office for 2 years - 2004/6 then got involved in volunteer and ministry work. Currently, I am still involved in some of them. I did a relieving job for three months 2009 and joined BTA in October same year.

Why am I here doing what I am doing?

God leads in mysterious ways and I am happy to have been accepted to work in the BTA East Papua Office. I want to be seen to be contributing meaningfully where there is a need whether administratively, and/or in relation to translation work. Not the least, I am experiencing each day that why I am doing this is to grow and be transformed in the Word first, before I can impact the lives of others.

One specific item?

"Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you". I testify on these words of Christ. I have seen God's goodness and mercy flow in the lives of my family as I went through a rough time in my marriage, which was especially hard for my children. They are doing exceptionally well, academically. There are many blessings of course, but this one is a specific reminder and a testimony.

What does God's Word mean to me?

I honestly testify that God's Word is truly the heartbeat of my life. How else can I live and move and have my being.  Without His Word what can one do?  His Word rebukes me and teaches me each time I reflect on it. I can express it no other way.
